Welcome From Our Executive Director

July 15, 2019

I’m thrilled to introduce the new DownTown Association website. Its launch in combination with several promotional initiatives will rebrand Grande Prairie’s central business district and help pave the way to a brighter future for the City Centre.

Shoppers, visitors and merchants will appreciate a robust, dynamic and responsive website, just as upgrades to our streets and sidewalks created opportunities for growth.

The website will help highlight the wide variety of shops and services within our midst – whether they be culinary, gaming, and arts offerings, establishments filling professional business and health and wellness needs, entertainment venues, or hotel options.

We’ve got so much to be proud of among our more than 400 stores and services.

The new website is vital in helping tell our story. We have a great tradition to showcase, from the mainstay businesses like Al’s News and the Co-op to emerging shops like She Wolf that add to the incredible diversity. Look for features that profile businesses, events and initiatives.

Grande Prairie is a growing and vibrant city and the experiences we offer to residents and visitors in our downtown core are exceptional.

The City Centre is at the pulse of the community and contributes invaluably to the quality of life here. Our streets are alive for the Street Performers and International Food festivals and Downtown’s where it’s at for the Santa Claus Parade and the official City tree lighting that follows.

Who doesn’t love getting fresh local produce from the Farmer’s Market? It would take days just to take in all the coffee shops and art galleries within our blocks. There are many gems in our crown of attractions.

I’m excited to build on our rich heritage and for the City Centre to become that place Where You Want To Be!

It’s important to capitalize on opportunities the Downtown Revitalization Project has provided to add to the uniqueness of our sector. We can be recognized as a great place to work, play and live – a place where people enjoy a great mix of historical pride and urban vibe.

On a personal note, I extend my gratitude to our Board, committees and everyone who has welcomed and helped me transition into this position since September 2018.

I can’t wait to get to know all members within our City Centre and appreciate everyone’s contributions toward enhancing our wonderful mosaic.

It’s been a pleasure collaborating with business, municipal and community leaders. I’ve also enjoyed discussions with organizations such as Community Futures, the Grande Prairie Regional Tourism Association, Sport Connection, and other non-profit groups to help shape an even better business landscape.

Watch for new and exciting developments to keep Downtown in the spotlight. The best is yet to come!

Sincerely,

Wendy Bosch
